Redesigning Design
One of the current key themes of business and technology is to "fail fast" – or at least make your mistakes early enough that you can recover quickly before wasting vast amounts of time and money.
Once upon a time, IT was a business blocker; it was the dinosaur in the room. It was heavy-weight, sluggish and impossible to steer to a different direction. With the advent of scalable frameworks, agile delivery methods, open-source and functional programming languages such as Scala, IT is now an essential business enabler.
IT is leading the charge but design is lagging way behind. Design is out of sync. It still uses methods and processes that were created in an era when design deadlines ruled. However, on the ubiquitous web, the concept of the deadline is outdated. The measure of time is always urgent but there is no such thing as done.
Design needs a redesign. In order to be more responsive to the ubiquitous web, design needs to be more emergent. It is no longer a solo activity performed by an expert in the comfort of a creative space. Design should be continuous, constantly evolving and adopting in line with market forces, changing technologies and customer needs.
In this presentation, we’ll explore how to redesign design and integrate it with agile delivery methods and by collaborating with business, technology and customers we can continuously design and deliver value.
